Job summary

Actalent seeks an experienced Designer/Drafter to transform concepts into manufacturable product designs within our New Product Development team. You will create accurate design documentation and work closely with engineers to support prototypes, pilots, and production releases.

The role focuses on 3D CAD design using Creo, sheet metal components, and BOM management to influence performance, cost, and manufacturability on projects spanning six months to two years.

Qualifications

• 8 years of experience developing and creating new products, preferably electro‑mechanical.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling with PTC Creo.
• Experience with 2D and 3D modeling for mechanical design.
• Strong BOM handling and manufacturability focus.
• Ability to interpret engineering sketches and specs.
• Sheet metal design experience with appropriate tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Translate product requirements into prototype and pilot designs.
• Develop digital models using 3D CAD to support development cycles.
• Create detailed 3D models and drawings focused on manufacturability and quality.
• Design sheet metal components with proper tolerances for production.
• Recommend assembly and fabrication methods to optimize cost and feasibility.
• Prepare documentation for release to manufacturing including BOMs and machine files.
• Maintain accurate BOMs and configurations throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate with engineers on customizable products across 6 months to 2 years.
