Job summary

Sony's Enterprises in Savage, MN is seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer to lead the design of conveyorized car wash equipment. You will develop 3D models, engineering drawings, and documentation for prototypes and production, guiding projects from concept through testing.

You will apply DFMEA, APQP, DOE, DFM, and DFA principles, collaborate with manufacturing and QA, and mentor junior engineers while staying current with industry trends to improve product quality.

Qualifications

• 6–8 years of experience in mechanical design.
• Proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Experience leading projects.
• Knowledge of DFMEA, APQP, DOE, DFM, and DFA.
• Strong problem solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and development of systems and components.
• Support DFMEA activities and mitigate design risks.
• Build prototypes and oversee testing and analysis.
• Plan and execute DOE to optimize designs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to apply DFM/DFA.
• Perform root cause analysis per APQP guidelines.
• Create 3D CAD models and engineering drawings.
• Maintain engineering documentation and write reports.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
