Job summary

Leidos is seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer/Checker to support our hypersonic and defense portfolios. You will ensure technical drawings comply with ASME Y14.100 standards, review GD&T schemes, and verify 3D models align with drawings and program standards.

Responsibilities include coaching junior designers, attending TTR meetings, and upholding Y14.5 best practices. The role requires strong communication and a proven CAD package background in a fast-paced defense environment.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from ABET-accredited university with 8–12 years of experience, or similar.
• An Associate’s degree in Design/Drafting with 10–14 years of relevant experience, or 12+ years in lieu of a degree.
• Advanced knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Strong knowledge of ASME Y14.100 drawing standards.
• Working knowledge of at least one 3D CAD package.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure drawings meet Y14.100 and program standards.
• Check 3D models for accuracy against drawings and program standards.
• Attend Table Top Review (TTR) meetings.
• Provide constructive feedback to junior designers.
• Coach junior designers on Y14.5 best practices.
