Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer to enhance data center mechanical designs, collaborating with electrical, structural, and architectural teams to deliver integrated solutions.

In this role, you will develop Revit/BIM models, create construction documents, and contribute to design reviews while mentoring junior designers in a fast-paced, hybrid work environment across U.S. projects.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Design or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 6+ years of mechanical design experience, preferably in mission-critical or industrial facilities.
• Strong proficiency in Revit and BIM modeling for mechanical systems.
• Experience developing construction documents for HVAC and hydronic systems.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Strong collaboration skills across multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop Revit/BIM models and construction documents for mechanical systems on data center projects
• Support the layout and design of HVAC and hydronic systems, including chilled water and cooling water systems
• Assist in development of design criteria and basis of design documentation
• Prepare conceptual and preliminary designs, including flow diagrams and general arrangements
• Perform ductwork and piping layout based on load requirements, system diagrams, and equipment configurations
• Produce detailed construction documents, including plans, sections, and system details
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure integrated designs
• Participate in model coordination efforts, including clash detection (NavisWorks/Revizto)
• Support design reviews and quality control processes
• Mentor and guide junior designers as appropriate
