Job summary

ManpowerGroup is seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer in Owatonna, MN to lead the design and execution of custom engineered products from concept through manufacturing. You will collaborate with Sales, Project Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Installation to ensure on-schedule delivery.

The role requires 5+ years of mechanical design experience, strong DFM know-how, and proficiency with 3D CAD tools. SolidWorks is preferred; AutoCAD and Revit/Navisworks are a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mechanical design, product design, or project design experience.
• Strong design-for-manufacturing (DFM) knowledge, including BOM creation and manufacturing processes.
• Expert ability to read and interpret mechanical and architectural drawings.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software; SolidWorks experience preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD and familiarity with Revit/Navisworks is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create and develop detailed mechanical designs, drawings, BOMs, and 3D models.
• Review and validate design work for accuracy, consistency, manufacturability, and adherence to company standards.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to define project requirements and support successful project execution.
• Serve as a technical resource for Manufacturing, Sales, and other stakeholders by interpreting drawings and design documentation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex design and production challenges.
• Perform engineering calculations related to strength, stress, weight distribution, tolerances, and material selection as needed.
• Maintain project documentation, design records, and engineering changes throughout the project lifecycle.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, product reviews, and quality discussions.
