Job summary

American Rheinmetall Vehicles is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and analysis of complex mechanical systems that meet product requirements.

You will apply parametric CAD, FEA, and GD&T while coordinating with manufacturing and quality teams in a defense-focused environment. Location options include Auburn Hills or Plymouth, MI, with emphasis on delivering robust structures, drive systems, and subsystems that satisfy stringent specifications through the Product

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering; 5 years related experience or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Creo and Ansys Mechanical is preferred.
• Formal GD&T training is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead design/analysis of complex mechanical systems in accordance with the American Rheinmetall Product Development Process.
• Apply the principles of engineering to develop mechanical systems utilizing parametric modeling and applicable standards and specifications.
• Verify and document design safety margins by performing stress, vibration, and deflection analyses using FEA.
• Apply GD&T to communicate functional feature relationships and requirements.
• Verify component and assembly fit conditions using statistical stack up analyses of drawing dimensional requirements.
• Develop and release 2D drawings and 3D models utilizing parametric CAD software.
• Develop / execute test plan for validating design to customer requirements.
• Construct engineering artifacts in support of design reviews (DFMEA, DVP&R, etc.).
