Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Orlando, FL, seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer for the Solid Rocket Motor (SRM) Product Center. You will lead the mechanical design effort within an IPT, generating 3D models, drawings, and BOMs in Creo, and collaborating with suppliers to meet performance targets.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, 5+ years of related experience, and the ability to obtain a DoD secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• US Citizenship and ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance.
• Strong understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design activities in Creo, including 3D models, drawings, and BOMs in Windchill.
• Conduct trade studies on cost, weight, and performance.
• Coordinate fabrication with shops and suppliers; oversee tooling and build plans.
• Develop and execute mechanical DVT for SRM hardware.
• Create designs using metals, composites, and additive parts for SRM apps.
• Assess TPMs, identify risks, and mitigate.
• Support cross-functional IPT meetings with status updates and technical input.
• Maintain configuration control and document compliance throughout lifecycle.
