Job summary

Curtis-Wright Actuation Division in Shelby, NC seeks a Sr Mechanical Design Engineer to design and analyze mechanical systems and electro-mechanical actuators for aerospace and defense customers. You will develop, test, and optimize components, ensuring manufacturability and reliability.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, 5–10 years of relevant experience, and US citizenship. The position offers hybrid work in Shelby with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5-10 years of experience in mechanical design.
• Must be a US citizen.
• Experience creating moderately complex mechanical designs to meet customer requirements.
• Experience interfacing with customer technical and program management personnel.
• Ability to break down long-term goals into near-term actions for the team.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling and design using Siemens NX.
• Ability to create layouts and drawings in Siemens NX.
• Aerospace (commercial and military) experience preferred.
• Commercial vehicle and industrial experience also considered.

Responsibilities

• Design new equipment, machinery and components to meet customer specifications and ensure manufacturability.
• Develop innovative solutions to advance engineering problems.
• Design and conduct development testing with Test Engineers.
• Analyze data, interpret results, and support test reports.
• Provide engineering design, maintenance support and training to manufacturing.
• Coordinate maintenance of engineering solutions and documentations.
• Assist in installation, debugging and testing of equipment for production.
