Job summary

Allen Control Systems is seeking a Staff Mechanical Design Engineer for Drone Defense Turret Systems in Mountain View, CA. The role focuses on robust electromechanical integration, MIL-STD-810 durability, and rigorous simulations to meet environmental, vibration, and shock requirements.

You will collaborate with electrical and software teams, lead testing programs, and contribute to manufacturing-ready designs with a strong emphasis on reliability and safety.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of mechanical design experience with electromechanical integration.
• Experience designing for MIL-STD-810 environmental durability and reliability.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical simulations (FEA, modal, vibration, thermal).
• Strong CAD skills in SolidWorks or similar and experience with integration of mechanical and electrical components.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical systems meeting MIL-STD-810 specs for vibration, shock, thermal, and environmental conditions.
• Perform mechanical simulations (FEA, modal, vibration, thermal) to assess durability under stress.
• Collaborate with electrical and systems engineers to integrate electromechanical components.
• Lead structural integrity testing and analysis to meet environmental test criteria.
• Develop and document mechanical design specs, drawings, reports, and testing protocols.
• Conduct testing and validation to ensure performance and safety standards.
