Kratos Defense is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer to autonomously determine and implement mechanical designs meeting cost, schedule, and customer requirements. Responsibilities include designing shelters and modifications, reviewing requirements, and mentoring junior engineers.

The role involves coordinating with CAD teams, vendors, and internal departments, preparing proposals, and supporting engineering estimates. Office environment with DoD-related projects and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• BSME/BSMET degree in a technical field.
• 6+ years professional engineering experience preferred.
• Experience with Auto-Cad; 3-D Modeling Software.
• Defense/DoD-engineering background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Designs shelters and mechanical modifications such as rack installations, ECU installations, entry panel installations, and miscellaneous ancillary items.
• Attends kick-off meetings and participates in design reviews with customers.
• Reviews customer requirements including specifications, SOWs, and interface drawings for contract compliance.
• Prepares and updates task lists and tracks schedules and budgets.
• Issues long lead material and provides technical input to CAD design team.
• Reviews and approves drawings and interfaces with other departments.
• Creates technical proposals, materials, and procurement specifications; supports Sales in proposals.
• Submits ECPs and interfaces with customers to resolve issues.
