Job summary

Leggett Dynamics, part of Leggett & Platt, is seeking a Senior Machine Design Engineer for its Automotive team. You will research, design, and develop electro-mechanical production equipment and tools, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement tooling for processes and to meet production and quality objectives.

The role requires a BS in engineering and 7+ years of experience, with strong CAD skills (SolidWorks), understanding of GD&T, and knowledge of machine elements, pneumatics,

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical, design, manufacturing or electrical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience.
• Math skills including algebra, trigonometry and analytical geometry.
• Experience using 2D and 3D CAD drafting software; SolidWorks preferred.
• Professional written and verbal communication and technical writing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, schedules and budgets.
• Understanding of quality systems and procedures.
• Ability to supervise and direct others.
• Knowledge of design of machine elements and GD&T.
• Electrical control system design and PLC and servo/stepper motor applications.

Responsibilities

• Designs machines and machine elements.
• Manages project schedules and budgets.
• Performs other duties as requested or deemed appropriate.
• Conforms to environmental policies and EMS requirements.
• Develops and releases manufacturing documents for machine and product builds.
• Supports and delivers new manufacturing technologies to improve competitiveness and profitability.
• Ensures Engineering Change Requests and Manufacturing Change Requests are followed and implemented.
