Owen Thomas Group in Princeton, NJ, seeks a senior mechanical project engineer to lead projects from inception to completion, coordinating with clients, the design team, architects and owners.

Responsibilities

  • Handle projects from inception to completion with clients, design team, architects and owners.
  • Coordinate mechanical, functional and administrative matters within project plans and specs.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all completed projects and meet schedules.
  • Evaluate building energy performance via on-site measurements and analysis; compute loads and aid in cost estimates.
  • Troubleshoot field issues through research and collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Plan engineers' time to ensure on-time, on-budget completion with technical accuracy.
  • Collaborate with clients and clients' PMs to meet objectives.
  • Monitor construction progress and respond to RFIs promptly.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to team members; mentor junior staff.
  • Participate in standards meetings and review other teams' designs.
  • Perform design work using Revit.

Job description

++Overview++
  • Handle projects from inception to completion including continuous interface with clients, the design team, architects and owners.
  • Coordination of all mechanical, functional and administrative matters related to project plans, sketches, specifications, estimates, studies and special provisions within a project package.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all completed projects; meet project schedules set by the Project Manager.
  • Evaluate building energy performance via on site field measurements and energy analysis methods; cooling and heating load calculations, duct sizing, equipment selection, writing specifications and cost estimating.
  • Utilize professional engineering skills and knowledge to troubleshoot a variety of field issues through research and meeting with key process members, designers and area experts.
  • Plan time of self and other mechanical engineers/designers to ensure project is completed on time, on budget and is technically correct.
  • Collaborate with clients and clients' PMs to meet their objectives.
  • Monitor construction progress and C.A. correspondence to ensure accurate and timely responses to R.F.I.'s and related issues.
  • Communicate progress and prepare appropriate reports as needed throughout the project.
  • Provide technical support to team members and develop relationships with industry partners.
  • Act as technical advisor to junior staff regarding project assignments.
  • Participate in standards meetings within the mechanical engineering discipline.
  • Review other teams design projects.
  • Perform design work using Revit.

  • Must be able to be fully confidential.
  • PE is preferred, but personality and work ethic are a strong deciding factor.
