Job summary

RTX in McKinney, TX is seeking an established Mechanical Engineer to perform mechanical design and documentation of electro-mechanical assemblies, coordinating with multi-functional design groups, and supporting our manufacturing facility.

This onsite role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical/Aerospace engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience, plus the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or equivalent from ABET‑accredited university with 5+ years of experience.
• Experience with PTC Creo Parametric for 3D modeling and 2D/3D drawing creation.

Responsibilities

• Follow established procedures with program leadership to meet design and production goals.
• Model with PTC Creo Parametric and create 2D drawings for fabrication.

The Airborne Sensor RF Design Department is seeking an established Mechanical Engineer to fill an On-Site position in our McKinney, TX location. We are looking for self-starting candidates to perform mechanical design and documentation of electro-mechanical assemblies, coordinate with multi-functional design groups, and support our manufacturing facility in McKinney, TX.

What You Will Do

• Follow established procedures and instructions while working closely with program and functional leadership to ensure the overall design and production goals are met.
• Have proficient experience with PTC Creo Parametric software or other Solid Modeling tools.
• Have a strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles and their application for design documentation and fabrication.
• Work within a multi-disciplined team of engineers with responsibilities ranging aperture hardware design, housing design, electronics equipment packaging, circuit card assemblies, interconnects, and thermal management.
• Frequent interaction with the Integrated Program Team Lead (IPTL), Supply Chain, and other external personnel.
• Travel related to external suppliers and other Raytheon facilities typically does not exceed 10%.

Qualifications You Must Have

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Equivalent Engineering from an ABET accredited university and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience to include the following:

• Experience with PTC CREO Parametric or other mechanical CAD design tools both for 3D modeling and 2D/3D drawing creation.
• Experience with utilizing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing principles.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Knowledge of electromechanical assemblies and the interrelationship of the components therein.
• Knowledge of aerostructure and fastener design.
• Knowledge of materials and fabrication methods.
• Knowledge of statistical concepts and how to apply them to development and production processes.
• Knowledge of engineering and scientific methods and tools to characterize behavior of products and processes.
• Knowledge of reading and creating mechanical fabrication and assembly drawings.
• Production support including the use of basic measurement tools.
• Ability to draft communications, create and deliver presentations.
• Able to work independently and as a team member.
• Experience in the support of design and integration of mechanical products and assemblies.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of coordinating Mechanical design with Electronic design.
• Ability to travel between North Texas sites and nationwide suppliers.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplined integrated product team.
• Familiarity with active electronically scanned antenna (AESA) design, test, and integration.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
