RTX's Airborne Sensor RF Design Department is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to work onsite at our McKinney, Texas location, performing mechanical design, test, integration and documentation for RF systems and sub-systems, including antennas, radomes, sensors and waveguides. The candidate will lead mechanical outline/assembly definitions, oversee fixture/electrical layout, and ensure cost, schedule, quality and performance targets are met.

Availability for up to 25% travel and U.S.

Raytheon's Airborne Sensor RF Design Department is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to work on Advanced Programs onsite at our McKinney, Texas location. The candidate will perform mechanical design, test, integration and documentation tasks for RF (Radio Frequency) systems and sub-systems, including antennas, radomes, sensors, waveguides and supporting electronics. The candidate will be responsible for leadership in the areas of mechanical design, requirements development, design concept development and trade studies in addition to detailed hardware design and documentation.

The candidate is expected to follow established procedures and instructions while working closely with program and functional leadership to ensure that overall design goals are met. The candidate is expected to have extensive experience in the use of solid-modeling CAD software and have multi-year experience in electronics packaging. The candidate is also expected to be experienced in the use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for design documentation and fabrication. The candidate will be responsible for developing technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems. The candidate will be responsible for supervising the definitions of mechanical outline and construction details, connector selection and specification, generating mechanical and assembly drawings, and overseeing electrical layout and the technical data package. Familiarity with ANSI drawing standards is required. The candidate will be also responsible for meeting cost, schedule, quality, and performance requirements for the finished product. The candidate will work with minimal direction or supervision, while exercising latitude in choosing the technical objectives of the assignment. The position will require frequent interaction with program management and external personnel, as well as the mentoring of early-career engineers. Periodic travel, up to 25%, may be required as needed.

• Ability to travel periodically to suppliers, manufacturing facilities and customer sites to support programs (up to 25%)
• Ability to apply basic principles, theories, and concepts within the mechanical engineering field
• Deep desire to mentor earlier career engineers
• U.S. Citizenship is required, as this position requires an active U.S. Security Clearance

Qualifications We Prefer

• M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, from an ABET accredited university
• 12+ years of industry experience in the design and manufacturing of electronics packaging for military and aerospace applications
• Solid modeling experience, using CREO
• Experience with testing of electronics to military environments (MIL-STD-810)
• Excellent leadership skills and project management skills
• Demonstrated presentation and communication skills
• Experience negotiating with internal and/or external suppliers
• Experience leading proposals and supporting new business development

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
