Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • 5+ years’ experience work experience or master’s degree and 3+ years’ industry experience.
  • Experience with electromechanical product development and manufacturing.
  • In-depth knowledge of rapid-prototyping and volume manufacturing processes including 3D printing, CNC machining, and injection molding.
  • Experience integrating actuation, sensing, control logic, and electronics in compact packages.
  • Experience with wearables, medical devices, robotics/controls, and design control a plus.
  • Excellent written/verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Lead subsystem design and continual improvement of robotic exoskeletons.
  • Develop detailed CAD assemblies and drawings in SolidWorks for manufacturability.
  • Interact with suppliers to obtain quotes and assess manufacturability across CNC, sheet metal, textiles, and injection molding.
  • Collaborate with electrical & controls engineers on sensing and actuation systems.
  • Construct prototypes and evaluate performance using numerical and qualitative methods.
  • Perform drafting, tolerancing, and DFM for low-mid volume manufacture.
  • Own mechanical subsystems from concept through production; balance performance, cost, and reliability.
  • Mentor junior engineers as needed.

  • Lead subsystem design and continual improvement of Myomo’s robotic exoskeletons, enabling users to regain arm and hand function.

  • Develop detailed CAD assemblies and drawings in SolidWorks to transition early-stage concepts into manufacturable designs.

  • Interact with suppliers to obtain quotes and assess component manufacturability from a wide variety of sources, including CNC machining, sheet metal, textiles, and injection molding.

  • Collaborate with electrical & controls engineers to develop high-performance portable sensing and actuation systems.

  • Construct prototypes, critically evaluating performance using numerical and qualitative techniques.

  • Perform drafting, tolerancing, and DFM for low-mid volume manufacture.

  • Own mechanical and electromechanical subsystems from concept through production, balancing performance, cost, and reliability.

  • Mentor junior engineers as needed.
