Job summary

Big Belly Solar LLC in Lawrence, MA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Buyer to coordinate manufacturing with direct materials suppliers at our Lawrence/Methuen production facility. You will manage high-value mechanical commodities, lead supplier negotiations, and ensure on-time delivery using NetSuite ERP.

On-site role with strong emphasis on BOM review, ECOs, and NPI sourcing. The position requires 5+ years in mechanical purchasing, a related degree, and advanced Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in a mechanical Purchasing role in manufacturing.
• NetSuite or a comparable ERP system for inventory, procurement workflows and material tracking.
• On-site work at Methuen, MA facility with multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) with data from NetSuite.
• Experience with sheet-metal fabrication and plastic molding preferred.
• Sourcing experience in low-cost regions (Asia, Mexico) preferred.
• APICS/ISM certification (CPIM/CSCP or CPM/CPSM) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Execute purchase orders for custom mechanical components, raw materials, and related direct materials based on NetSuite demand planning.
• Collaborate with production floor, quality, and engineering to resolve shortages, dimensional discrepancies, or quality issues.
• Optimize NetSuite MRP parameters and demand planning for direct material flow.
• Identify, audit, and onboard supply partners; manage supplier performance.
• Review engineering drawings and BOMs to assess capability, tolerances, and quoting.
• Lead supplier negotiations and establish long-term pricing agreements; drive cost-reduction initiatives.
• Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to manage ECOs and prototype sourcing for NPIs.
