Job summary

Advanced Input Systems (1HMX/AIS) seeks a Principal Mechanical Engineer to be the senior technical authority on mechanical and electromechanical design for our most complex programs. You will set technical direction, resolve challenging design/manufacturing problems, and mentor engineers while driving end-to-end designs from ideation through production.

This role oversees plastic, elastomeric, and metal parts, and interfaces with customers and factory teams at executive and technical levels.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of relevant product design experience with leadership on complex programs.
• Proven ability to design and analyze complex multi-part mechanisms from concept through production.
• Strong analytical abilities in math, stress, and thermal analysis.
• Solid foundation in materials science and EMC design familiarity.
• Rapid prototyping experience and electronic packaging expertise.
• 3D CAD experience, preferably SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural and detailed mechanical/electromechanical design on the most complex programs.
• Assist in costing activities to support sales growth and customer definitions.
• Set technical direction and roadmaps for mechanical design capabilities.
• Own development and maintenance of design standards and best practices.
• Coordinate mechanical design activities with project management and manufacturing.
• Ensure designs are manufacturable and producible across the supply chain.
• Lead reliability testing and verification activities.
• Mentor engineers and raise team problem-solving capability.
• Represent 1HMX / AIS in senior technical discussions with customers and partners.
• Participate in technical design reviews.
