Become a vital part of HII Mission Technologies and contribute to the unique Refueling and Complex Overhaul (RCOH) of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers – work performed at the nation's only dedicated shipyard. As a Master Tradesperson 4 (Senior-level mechanic), you'll directly support the RCOH Elevator Support Unit (ESU), focusing on the mechanical systems critical to the refit and modernization of aircraft elevators. Your expertise will directly impact the U.S. Navy's operational readiness and national defense for the next 25 years. Join our growing team and make a tangible difference.

What You Will Do
  • Master understanding of production and processes. Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others.
  • May provide direction and lead others.
  • May manage one or more multiple jobs.
  • Completes comprehension of specialty trades functions and tools.
  • Performs a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks.
  • Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.
  • Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management.
  • May perform quality inspections on finished product.
  • Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment.
What You Must Have
  • High School diploma, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of mechanical experience.
  • Candidate must have master knowledge and experience with troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs of mechanicalsystems and its associated equipment.
  • Candidate must be proficient in reading mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Candidate must be able to follow and enforcesafety procedures to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD confidential security clearance and maintain clearance level throughout employment.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain base access credentials within 60 days of start date and maintain credentials throughout employment.
  • Candidate must be able to provide hand tools per trade designation.
  • Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
Bonus Points For Having!
  • Candidates whohave graduated from and/or completed a vocational school, apprenticeship program or a skilled trades certificate program are preferred.
  • Candidate with a current or active DoD clearance preferred.
  • OSHA 10 Maritime Certification
  • Knowledge of Navy Tag Out program, NSTM 300, and 3M manual
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs.
  • Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
  • Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise, and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.
  • May ride ships at sea for extended periods.
  • May require wearing a respirator. Most work is performed aboard ships or in industrial conditions.
  • Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
