Job summary

Southwire Company, LLC in Hawesville, KY seeks a dedicated Senior Mechanic to troubleshoot, disassemble, repair, assemble, install, relocate or modify complex mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. You will work under a supervisor to keep critical plant systems reliable.

Requirements include a high school diploma, welding experience, gear backlash setting and drawings interpretation. You will join a safety-conscious team with opportunities for growth and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Must complete Senior Mechanic certification prior to employment.
• Thorough knowledge of hand tools, power tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to work with a small crew.
• Welding experience and/or education is required.
• Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings and maintenance manuals.
• Ability to set gear backlash and tooth contact patterns.
• Ability to align multiple couplings.
• Proficient with PC-based maintenance and screens.
• Physically able to expend considerable effort.

Responsibilities

• Follow prescribed safety procedures to prevent injury and maintain safe equipment and conditions in the plant.
• Have thorough knowledge of maintenance procedures and operating standards.
• Know location of switches, valves, tools and emergency equipment in the area.
• Attend and complete training courses as prescribed by management.
• Maintain a safe and clean working area.
• Report all accidents, incidents, injuries and unsafe acts or conditions to the supervisor.
• Perform all other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
