General Description
Join our team and mission at the Wyoming Life Resource Center (WLRC) in Lander. WLRC operates as an Intermediate Care Facility and Skilled Nursing Facility. This position maintains, diagnoses, adjusts, repairs, and overhauls State of Wyoming vehicles and equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.
- Overhauls, troubleshoots, and repairs gas and diesel engines, drive trains, hydraulic brakes, and electrical systems on vehicles and small and heavy equipment.
- Assess vehicles and/or machinery to diagnose and repair issues accurately.
- Performs regular maintenance and safety inspections on gas and diesel vehicles and small and heavy equipment, including tune-ups, oil changes, and safety inspections.
- Assist with the inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of fleet automotive equipment as well as equipment used in grounds maintenance.
- Schedule work activities in the shop.
- Schedule and perform preventive maintenance inspections, services, and repairs.
- Respond to telephone and radio calls.
- Maintain documentation related to inspections, services, and repairs.
- Obtain quotes for repair parts.
- Ensure that equipment that requires annual inspection is kept up to date, including proper record-keeping.
- Procure the necessary parts needed to complete repairs and maintenance, review invoices, and authorize the purchase of parts. Keep an inventory of parts.
- Schedule vehicles for use by facility staff.
- Keep shop, shop equipment, and vehicles clean, operable, and in safe condition.
- Assist with inspections, testing, and maintenance on campus generators in accordance with NFPA 110 and maintain all pertinent records for Life Safety Code inspection of generators.
- Design and fabricate parts for groundskeeping and other equipment as necessary.
- Train and review the work mechanics or work crews in the area of vehicle or equipment maintenance and repair.
- Ensure the safety of self and others in the performance of duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference may be given to applicants with three or more years of education or experience in the mechanic field.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of light and heavy-duty automotive equipment and their parts.
- Knowledge of equipment manuals.
- Knowledge of diagnostic procedures.
- Ability to prepare work estimates.
- Skills in the repair and operation of a variety of motorized equipment.
- Ability to weld and fabricate.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance and best practices.
- Knowledge of heavy and specialty equipment/operation.
- Knowledge of safety regulations.
- Knowledge of Life Safety Code.
- Ability to use a computer and applicable software programs.
- Ability to interact with others positively and professionally.
Education
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree
Experience
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically Mechanics) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Mechanic
OR
Education & Experience Substitution
3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Mechanics) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Mechanic

Necessary Special Requirements
Physical Working Conditions
- Exposure to hazardous materials, chemicals, biological substances, bio-hazards, potential explosives, and the elements.
- Must be able to safely drive vehicles and operate a variety of motorized equipment and large complex cleaning equipment.
- Must be able to stand for long periods, kneel, bend, twist, lift, push, and pull.
- Must be able to perform work in close and confined spaces when required.
- Must be able to safely use and operate tools and equipment as would be expected in an automotive, truck, and motorized equipment repair shop.
- Ability to positively interact with and perform some job duties in the presence of facility residents, including those with aggressive and challenging behavioral issues.

- FLSA: Non-Exempt
- The Wyoming Life Resource Center participates in E-Verify.
