Job summary

Draper, a nonprofit R&D organization in Cambridge, MA, seeks a System Requirements Engineer to define, analyze, verify system requirements and shape overall system design within MBSE/digital engineering frameworks. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, perform risk management, and drive capability development aligned with customer priorities.

Responsibilities include coordinating assessments, ensuring traceability, and mentoring teams while advancing state-of-the-art techniques.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or related field.
• 10-15 years experience in systems engineering with emphasis in requirements engineering.
• Experience with MBSE/DE tools and modeling languages like SysML.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, schedule and participate in the requirements assessments.
• Perform strategic technical planning, project management, performance engineering, risk management and interface design.
• Conduct requirements engineering, scheduling, reliability, development, and evaluation, maintainability and analysis for training.
• Lead assessment effort in conducting both formal and informal evaluations and analysis.
• Analyze assessment results and make improvement/change recommendations.
• Ensure assessment results and recommendations can be incorporated into the requirements documentation.
• Independently drive solutions to complex, multidisciplinary problems with a deep understanding of a customer's strategic priorities
• Help customers shape their needs and develop requirements for programs that solve their most challenging technical problems.
• Lead large multidisciplinary teams.
• Aligns team towards program goals and builds trust within the team.
• Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Systems Engineering.
• Contributes to advancing State of the Art (SOA) solutions and techniques in their field
• Able to analyze Draper strategy and work with management to build capability in key areas to help sustain business growth.
• Identifies risks common among multiple programs/technology areas/etc. and develops and executes mitigation strategies.
• Works to improve operations at the enterprise level. Identifies areas for improvement within the organization and uses positive collaboration practices to achieve change.
• Actively mentors and seeks opportunities to build depth for their area of expertise. Recognizes strengths and weaknesses in others and gives thoughtful, constructive feedback.
