USMAPS is a Department of the Army school with civilian instructors. The purpose of this one-year post high school program is to prepare students for admission to and success at the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, NY. This is a full-time, twelve-month GS-12 Department of the Army teaching position with benefits including health care, vacation and sick leave, and retirement. This is NOT a remote job. Our school year is August to May with some summer responsibilities.
Responsibilities include teaching algebra, trigonometry, precalculus, and calculus daily to two sections of students, development of course materials and curriculum, evaluating curriculum, assisting students during additional instruction time, generating periodic reports on individual and collective student performance, providing recommendations for remediation and admission to USMA, maintaining classroom order and discipline, and serving on faculty committees.
A minimum of a bachelor's degree with experience is required, but a master's degree or higher in mathematics education is preferred.
