Job description

Job Location: This position will be located at 930 Wildwood Drive, Jefferson City, MO 65109. Remote work will not be considered.

Why You’ll Love This Position

Use your expertise in data analysis and epidemiology to improve the health of Missourians. The position will be in the Office of Epidemiology and will provide data support to the Missouri Pregnancy-Associated Mortality Review (PAMR), Newborn Hearing programs, and maternal-child health epidemiology.

This is a senior analyst role for someone who enjoys conducting complex analyses, improving data systems, and communicating findings to a variety of audiences. You may work with epidemiologists, program staff, clinicians, local public health agencies, federal partners, and other stakeholders to strengthen both statewide programs and turn findings into practical program improvements.

The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.

  • Lead analyses of pregnancy-associated deaths and related data. Monitor case identification, data completeness, and timeliness.
  • Examine medical, social, and systems factors that contribute to maternal mortality and morbidity.
  • Analyze newborn hearing screening, diagnostic follow-up, and early intervention data. Monitor progress toward the program benchmarks. Identify patterns in missed or delayed follow-up.
  • Use tools such as SAS, REDCap, or Tableau to collect and analyze data and create reports, maps, and dashboards.
  • Plan and conduct complex research and program evaluation studies, including defining questions, selecting methods, developing measures, integrating data sources, interpreting results, and recommending improvements.
  • Prepare annual reports, data briefs, presentations, and public-facing materials that communicate findings clearly to technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Respond to data requests and provide technical consultation to DHSS leadership, federal partners, local public health agencies, health care partners, and other stakeholders while following applicable confidentiality and data-use requirements.
  • Lead or contribute to multidisciplinary projects that translate findings into recommendations for program planning, monitoring, evaluation, and improved maternal and infant health outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 4-6 years of relevant experience. Substitutions may be allowed.
  • Experience in independently designing and conducting complex research, epidemiologic, surveillance, or program evaluation studies.
  • Experience collecting, managing, linking, analyzing, and interpreting complex data.
  • Proficiency with SAS or comparable statistical software.
  • Proficiency with Tableau or comparable data visualization software.
  • Ability to communicate complex findings clearly in reports, presentations, and data visualizations for technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, exercise independent judgment, and work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and diverse stakeholders.

Lack of post‑secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
