Job summary

West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. is seeking a senior research leader to drive the research, development, and scale‑up of advanced materials manufacturing technologies for next‑generation medical devices, especially syringe coating platforms.

The role focuses on translating frontier technologies from multiple industries into healthcare applications. You will mentor scientists, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and push for robust processes from lab proof‑of‑concept to pilot‑scale

Qualifications

• MS with 8+ years or PhD with 3+ years in relevant engineering fields.
• Lab-to-pilot or manufacturing scale-up experience.
• Strong knowledge of materials processing, surface engineering, coatings, and thin films.
• Experience with DOE and statistical analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead R&D programs for advanced materials processing and technology transfer.
• Design, qualify, and scale-up lab and pilot-scale manufacturing equipment.
• Collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and regulatory teams for tech transfer.
• Generate IP through invention disclosures and publications.
• Mentor junior scientists and communicate progress to leadership.
