Role Overview
- Seeking an experienced Materials Planner to plan, coordinate, and monitor the movement of materials through the production and engineering cycle. This role will support new product builds, material transfers, inventory staging, shipping coordination, and cross-functional supply chain activities.
- The ideal candidate is highly organized, self-motivated, analytical, and experienced with SAP materials management transactions and enterprise supply chain systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and monitor the movement of materials through production and engineering activities.
- Determine material requirements based on engineering and production schedules.
- Support shipments for new products by coordinating engineering-owned materials to appropriate shipping locations.
- Coordinate material transfers and movement from engineering into unrestricted inventory locations, labs, or other designated areas.
- Manage material reservations and inventory staging activities.
- Coordinate efficiently with Purchasing, Production Control, Engineering, Program Management, Product Management, and Supply Chain teams.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders to support production and project requirements.
- Communicate material availability and delivery issues that may impact build schedules.
- Manage shared project/service mailboxes and coordinate timely resolution of material-related requests.
- Support material requirements, procurement activities, and supply chain system transactions.
- Create, maintain, and validate Bills of Material (BOMs), part numbers, commodity information, and procurement-related data within enterprise systems.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of supply chain and procurement business system data.
- Develop specifications and material requirements for new orders or projects as needed.
- Prepare ad hoc reports and provide material status updates to support Product and Program teams.
- Participate in cross-functional teams and support continuous improvement of material planning and movement processes.
- Identify material constraints, investigate issues, and support timely resolution.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in materials planning, material coordination, supply chain, production control, inventory, or manufacturing operations.
- Strong working knowledge of SAP materials management transactions, including:
- MD04
- MB51
- LS24
- ME27
- MB21
- MB22
- MB23
- Experience working with enterprise supply chain, procurement, inventory, or materials management systems.
- Ability to analyze material requirements, identify issues, and communicate impacts to stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI/NPD) or engineering builds.
- Experience in semiconductor, electronics, advanced manufacturing, or high-tech environments.
- Experience with material transfers, inventory reservations, engineering-owned material, or lab materials.
- Experience with Bills of Material, part numbers, commodities, and procurement data.
- Experience working with Production Control, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Program/Product Management.
- Experience with SAP reporting and material availability analysis.
- Strong Excel and reporting skills.
