Job summary

Alutiiq Informaton Management, LLC seeks a Sr. Materials Engineer to lead a new materials laboratory on Oahu, Hawaii. The role requires expertise in polymer science, materials testing, and reverse engineering to guide production choices.

You will oversee lab setup, equipment procurement, and safety compliance while collaborating with senior engineers. The candidate will serve as the polymer SME, drive additive manufacturing integration, and produce thorough technical documentation for leadership

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Materials Science/Engineering or related field; PhD is a plus.
5+ years of professional experience in materials testing, analysis, and lab management.
U.S. Citizenship status required; must be able to obtain DoD Secret Security Clearance; passport may be required for travel.

Responsibilities

Lead the design, equipment procurement, setup, and operational management of the new materials laboratory.
Direct and execute advanced materials reverse engineering to identify structures, properties, and origins.
Characterize materials by evaluating physical, chemical, and mechanical properties for production decisions.
Act as SME for polymer chemistry, evaluating plastics, resins, and advanced composites for engineering applications.
Integrate and test additive manufacturing materials within production.
Develop rigorous technical documentation and advise senior engineering leadership.
