Job summary

GM Defense is seeking a seasoned Materials Engineer to lead materials selection and qualification for defense and space applications. You will ensure compliance with material specs and collaborate across Design, Release, Manufacturing, and Suppliers to drive robust, cost-effective solutions.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in materials engineering, strong knowledge of metals and polymers, and experience with GMW/ASTM/ISO standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of materials engineering experience in automotive/defense.
• Knowledge of metallic materials and polymers/composites.
• Experience with material characterization and testing.
• Familiarity with GMW/ASTM/ISO standards and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Lead materials selection and qualification for defense/space applications.
• Ensure compliance with material specs (GMW, ASTM) and design for performance and weight.
• Collaborate with Design, Release, Manufacturing, Validation, Purchasing, Suppliers.
