Job summary

Air Comfort, Inc is seeking a hands-on Senior Materials Buyer to drive supply chain strategy and support production across multiple facilities. You will partner with leadership, engineering, quality, and operations to ensure material availability, optimize inventory, and build strong supplier partnerships.

The role emphasizes developing purchasing strategies, managing inventory, ensuring ethical sourcing, and collaborating on new product launches and engineering changes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; manufacturing preferred.
  • 5+ years in procurement/purchasing/materials management in manufacturing.
  • Strong ERP/MRP and advanced Excel skills.
  • Proven negotiation, sourcing and contract management experience.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership abilities.
  • Self-motivated, hands-on, adaptable in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute purchasing strategies for raw materials and components across multiple facilities.
  • Monitor demand, manage inventory to minimize excess and obsolescence.
  • Evaluate and lead supplier performance reviews for cost, lead times, quality and delivery.
  • Partner with Production, Engineering, Quality and Finance on launches and changes.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory data in the ERP system and report savings and trends.
  • Ensure ethical sourcing and identify procurement workflow improvements.
  • Engage production on the floor to address material needs and inventory accuracy.

Job Title:Senior Materials Buyer

Location:Pataskala, OH and Frazeysburg, OH

Salary:Negotiable; dependent upon experience

Schedule:Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

Job Summary

We're looking for a hands-on Senior Materials Buyer to play a key role in driving our supply chain strategy and supporting production across our growing manufacturing facilities. This is a high-visibility role where you'll partner directly with leadership, engineering, quality, and operations to ensure material availability, optimize inventory levels, and build strong supplier partnerships that make a direct impact on our daily operations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Procurement & Strategic Sourcing:Develop and execute purchasing strategies for raw materials and components across multiple facilities. Source, negotiate pricing and terms, and issue purchase orders to support production requirements.
  • Materials & Inventory Planning:Monitor demand trends, manage inventory levels to minimize excess/obsolescence, and develop quick recovery plans for material shortages.
  • Supplier Relationship Management:Evaluate, track, and lead performance reviews for suppliers regarding cost, lead times, quality, and delivery.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:Partner daily with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Finance teams on new product launches, engineering changes, and operational improvements.
  • Data Analysis & Systems:Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory data in our ERP system, reporting on cost savings, market trends, and supply metrics.
  • Compliance & Continuous Improvement:Ensure ethical sourcing and compliance with company policies, while identifying opportunities to streamline procurement workflows.
  • Floor Engagement:Spend time on the production floor engaging teams to proactively address material needs and inventory accuracy.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Education:Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Materials Science, Business, or Industrial Engineering (significant practical manufacturing experience will be considered in lieu of a degree).
  • Experience:5+ years of procurement, purchasing, or materials management experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Skills:Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Negotiation & Sourcing:Proven track record in supplier negotiation, contract management, and strategic sourcing.
  • Soft Skills:Excellent communication, cross-functional leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Mindset:Self-motivated, hands-on, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • APICS/ASCM (CPIM/CSCP) or CPSM certification.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, or international sourcing.
