Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Research, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with progressive experience in a high-rate environment.
• Ability to read technical drawings and CAD data, with understanding of manufacturing processes for complex assemblies.
• Hands-on experience with data analytics, MES/WMS/ERP platforms, and production data systems.
• Experience with value stream mapping, line balancing, and layout design.
• Strong problem-solving, end-to-end ownership, and data-driven recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Own production metrics, dashboards, and KPI reporting for line health and efficiency.
• Perform time studies, VSM, process mapping, and line balancing for facilities.
• Model production scenarios using discrete event simulation to test capacity and mitigate risk.
• Lead lean improvements on the shop floor with minimal capital expenditure.

ABOUT THE JOB

At Anduril, our Industrial Engineers in Supply Chain Material Flow are the architects of operational scalability, taking cutting-edge defense hardware—including complex mechanical assemblies, electronic sensor payloads, and autonomous systems—and transforming them into mature, high-rate production realities across our manufacturing footprint. You will step into a fast‑paced environment, taking holistic ownership to optimize warehousing, internal logistics, and material flow operations for best‑in‑class quality, throughput speed, and asset utilization. We are seeking talented Industrial Engineers across experience levels (Mid to Staff) with deep technical expertise in supply chain material flow, warehouse operations, factory layout design, discrete event simulation, and data‑driven process optimization.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Scale Material Flow & Logistics Architecture: Design, implement, and optimize scalable warehousing, line‑side material delivery, kitting workflows, and inventory movement across multiple programs from initial development to full-rate production.
• Identify Bottlenecks & Drive Resolution: Proactively identify and eliminate imbalances caused by inventory processes, line layouts, parts shortages, and operational constraints by partnering cross‑functionally across Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Operations.
• Govern Production Metrics & Operational KPIs: Own the data systems, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms associated with monitoring production line health and efficiency, including cycle times, throughput rate, capacity utilization, process non‑conformities, and inventory accuracy.
• Execute Time Studies & Line Balancing: Perform rigorous time studies, value stream mapping (VSM), process mapping, and line balancing to optimize dynamic workplans and work demand for new and maturing facilities.
• Model Production & Material Flow Scenarios: Utilize discrete event simulation and layout modeling tools to test operational scenarios, stress‑test warehouse capacities, and deliver actionable data to de‑risk production scale‑up.
• Implement Hands‑On Lean Improvements: Champion continuous floor‑level improvements (e.g., Gemba walks, continuous flow, one‑piece flow, poka‑yoke solutions) to rapidly deploy iterative, high‑impact solutions without requiring massive capital expenditures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience & Education: Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Research, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with progressive experience (Mid to Staff level) in a high-rate supply chain or manufacturing environment.
• Hardware & Technical Literacy: Ability to read technical drawings and CAD data, with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes for complex structural, mechanical, electromechanical, or electronics assemblies (PCBAs, sensor hardware).
• Specialized Core Competencies: Demonstrated technical strength across core industrial engineering domains:
• Material Flow & Plant Layouts: Practical expertise in warehouse design, workstation design, value stream mapping, material replenishment strategies (e.g., continuous flow, line‑side staging), and spatial planning.
• Data Analytics & Systems: Hands‑on experience interacting with SQL databases, building custom queries, and working with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms (such as NetSuite or Oracle).
• Simulation & Line Modeling: Exposure to or proficiency with discrete event simulation software (e.g., Siemens Plant Simulation, Visual Components, Process Simulate) or stochastic line modeling techniques.
• Holistic Problem‑Solving & Agility: Demonstrated track record of taking end‑to‑end ownership of complex operational challenges, delivering sustainable business improvements, and presenting data‑driven recommendations to cross‑functional teams.
• Location & Travel: Willingness to be onsite in Costa Mesa, CA, with the ability to travel up to 25% of the time across production sites.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.

US Salary Range

$146,000 - $194,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
