As a Senior Material Controller, you will play a key role in ensuring construction materials and equipment are planned, tracked, received, stored, and distributed efficiently to support safe and successful project execution. Working closely with engineering, procurement, construction, and project leadership teams, you will help maintain the integrity of the materials control process while ensuring the right materials are available at the right time. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to complex EPC/EPCM projects while providing technical guidance and leadership to project teams.

Purpose of the Role

Play an integral role in supporting the successful delivery of construction projects through effective materials planning, coordination, and control. You will be responsible for maintaining and operating site materials control systems, ensuring accurate material forecasting, inventory management, and distribution activities that keep projects progressing safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Leveraging your technical expertise and leadership skills, you will collaborate across multiple disciplines to ensure materials management processes align with project requirements, engineering deliverables, and construction priorities.

Core Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining and operating the site materials control system to support construction and installation activities.
  • Reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, bills of material, and project documentation to accurately determine material requirements.
  • Identifying, quantifying, and documenting material requirements while considering existing inventory and standard ordering quantities.
  • Coordinating the receipt, inspection, storage, preservation, issuing, and distribution of construction materials and equipment.
  • Monitoring inventory levels and maintaining accurate materials records within project materials management systems.
  • Tracking material availability, deliveries, shortages, and inventory status to support project schedules.
  • Collaborating closely with engineering, procurement, warehouse, logistics, and construction teams to resolve material-related issues.
  • Ensuring materials are properly identified, preserved, stored, and protected in accordance with project procedures and quality requirements.
  • Supporting the development and continuous improvement of materials control processes and site procedures.
  • Identifying discrepancies between engineering documentation and material requirements while working with project teams to resolve issues promptly.
  • Preparing reports, material status updates, and inventory analyses to support project management and decision‑making.
  • Assisting with material audits, reconciliations, and surplus material management activities.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior material controllers and other project personnel.
  • Leading assigned project activities and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Promoting compliance with Worley policies, procedures, safety standards, and quality expectations throughout all materials management activities.
What You'll Bring to the Role

You are a highly organized materials management professional with a strong understanding of EPC/EPCM project execution and construction support. You enjoy collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, solving complex challenges, and ensuring project materials are available when needed to support successful construction outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • A university degree in Supply Chain, Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Typically 7 or more years of experience in materials control, warehouse operations, logistics, or materials management within EPC or EPCM projects.
  • Strong knowledge of materials control systems, inventory management, and construction materials processes.
  • The ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, bills of material, and other technical documentation.
  • Experience supporting field construction activities through effective material planning and coordination.
  • Working knowledge of materials management systems and enterprise software used to manage inventory, receiving, issuing, and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, procurement, construction, and project management teams.
  • Experience preparing reports, presentations, and project documentation for stakeholders and leadership.
  • The ability to lead project activities, provide technical guidance, and mentor less experienced team members.
  • A collaborative mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement, operational excellence, and delivering high‑quality results.
