Principal Responsibilities
  • Own the development and performance of marketing strategies across assigned portfolios (e.g., membership and general awareness).
  • Lead end-to-end campaign strategy development, including audience segmentation and development, positioning and messaging frameworks, channel strategy and media mix recommendations, go‑to‑market planning and campaign phasing, and budget and invoice management.
  • Serve as the primary strategic lead for portfolio stakeholders, ensuring alignment between marketing efforts and institutional goals.
  • Translate research, audience data, and market insights into clear strategic direction and actionable plans, identifying risks, trade‑offs, and opportunities within campaign strategies and proactively adjusting to optimize outcomes.
  • Act as a subject‑matter expert in campaign strategy, audience development, and integrated marketing.
  • Establish and uphold best practices for campaign planning frameworks, audience targeting and segmentation, measurement and performance evaluation.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of tools, templates, and processes that improve strategic output across the team.
  • Partner closely with Creative, Content, PR, social media, and Direct Mail teams to ensure cohesive and integrated campaign execution.
  • Collaborate with project management to operationalize strategies.
  • Define success metrics and measurement frameworks for assigned campaigns.
  • Lead post‑campaign analysis and synthesize insights into clear recommendations for future optimization.
  • Use data to continuously refine audience strategies, channel mix, and messaging effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with external partners including agencies, media vendors, and community organizations to support campaign execution.
  • Provide strategic input into media planning and investments (in partnership with media specialists or agencies).
  • Manage and optimize campaign‑level budgets within assigned portfolios.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field.
  • Expertise in strategic marketing planning, campaign development, and audience engagement/segmentation.
  • Strong analytical and insight‑driven decision‑making skills.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, multi‑channel campaigns from strategy through execution.
  • Advanced understanding of audience segmentation, positioning, and customer journey mapping.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence without authority and lead through expertise.
  • Strong collaboration skills across cross‑functional teams.
  • Knowledge of arts, culture, or nonprofit marketing is a plus.
Work Experience

  • Demonstrated experience leading large‑scale or high‑complexity campaigns.
  • Experience working with paid media, external agencies and vendors, or integrated marketing environments strongly preferred.
