About Datalily
At Datalily, we bring data stories to life through strategic market research and powerful content campaigns. Leading B2B SaaS brands like HubSpot, DoorDash, and Klaviyo rely on our expertise and the content we create to engage key audiences and drive their businesses forward.
We're a small team of hardworking creatives and data scientists who pride ourselves on delivering top-notch content campaigns and becoming key members of our client partners' marketing teams. And we actually like our clients (no really, just ask them).
We're women-owned and led, and within our startup, you'd have the opportunity to grow into a leadership position as we scale.
We're the type of crew that watches Shark Tank on our lunch break, works hard, and knows when it's time to call it quits for the day and grab a bev from the office fridge. Speaking of our office, it's dog friendly and super cozy.
About the role
The Senior Marketing Research Analyst will help us conduct quantitative and qualitative research and tell compelling stories for our clients to position them as thought leaders and experts in their industries. You’ll be responsible for the entire market research process, from survey design, to survey administration or data collection, to data analysis, to marketing-ready insights.
We’re looking for a curious person who enjoys finding the story in large datasets, feels comfortable pulling cross-tabs and digging into data to see what’s most compelling, and who knows how to build a narrative with data visualizations.
You’ll also have the opportunity to help us build and grow Flowerplot, our own data analysis and visualization platform for data storytelling.
The ideal candidate will be skilled in market research and data analysis and understand marketing objectives and goals, particularly in the B2B SaaS space. You will be part of a fast-growing startup team and have the opportunity to shape the future of our business.
Location: Hybrid role based in Framingham, MA (2-3 days per week in our office)
Key responsibilities
- Survey design: Write and design quantitative and qualitative surveys for various audiences (professionals and consumers), including choosing question types, implementing logic, and ensuring the survey meets the client’s needs, prevents bias, yields statistically meaningful results, and aligns with the goals for the research.
- Survey administration and management: Manage end-to-end survey execution across panel providers (Centiment, Pollfish, Alchemer, CleverX, QuestionPro, and others). Upload the survey to our data partners’ survey platforms, launch the survey, review soft launch results, and retrieve the data for analysis. Conduct interviews or focus groups where needed.
- Data manipulation and cleanup: Clean and validate raw survey exports, detect outliers, remove low-quality responses, and reshape datasets for analysis.
- Survey data analysis: Using CSVs or XLSX files, extract key insights and data visualizations using either pivot tables or our own data analysis platform, maintaining high data quality standards. Translate complex findings into plain-language key takeaways for non-technical clients and content teams.
- Raw data analysis: Retrieve and manipulate data from client dashboards and data warehouses to create visualizations and pull insights for the content marketing team.
- Client communication and project management: Manage timelines and deliverables, and communicate professionally with clients throughout the project.
- Ideation and brainstorming: Come up with ideas for new research projects, working with content marketing and PR/media teams to suggest topics based on industry research gaps and opportunities.
- Content support: Support the creation and editing of various thought leadership assets (blog posts, executive bylines, reports, articles) by ensuring data accuracy and strategic alignment.
Qualifications Required:
- Market research experience: 3–6+ years of experience in market research or survey-based research. Able to extract clear, compelling narratives from data.
- Marketing data analysis experience: Strong proficiency in data cleaning, analysis, and visualization for marketing teams. (Secret code: welovedata)
- Survey design and management proficiency: Proven ability to design and execute quantitative surveys from scratch, including questionnaire writing, sampling strategy, and field management.
- B2B SaaS marketing experience: Proven track record pulling insights for B2B SaaS marketing teams, with deep understanding of the industry and team needs.
- Project management capabilities: Experience managing 10+ concurrent projects with competing deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
- Client-facing communication: Strong presentation and communication skills with experience managing client relationships and expectations.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with statistical methods beyond basic cross-tabs: regression, clustering, MaxDiff, conjoint, or similar
- Exposure to data visualization tools (Flourish, Datawrapper, or similar)
- Background or coursework in quantitative social science, behavioral economics, or a related field
Personal attributes:
- Critical thinker: You question assumptions, identify gaps in logic, and bring fresh perspectives to client challenges rather than defaulting to generic marketing advice
- Self-directed: You take ownership of projects from strategy through execution with minimal hand-holding; and proactively identify problems and solutions
- Detail-oriented: You maintain high standards for accuracy, especially with data citations, statistics, and factual claims
- Collaborative: You work well with strategists, designers, and writers to bring campaigns to life; you're open to feedback and contribute to team improvement
- Adaptable: You quickly learn new industries, products, and brand voices; you're comfortable pivoting based on client needs or market changes
- Continuous learner: You stay current on marketing research trends, AI's impact on the industry, and evolving best practices; you're always looking for ways to improve processes
- Authentic voice: You value human-crafted narratives over exclusively AI-generated material
- Good vibes only: People enjoy working with you, you're kind and you don't let your ego get in the way of creating a positive work environment
