Job summary

Puget Sound Energy is seeking a seasoned leader to head Market Risk & Analytics, overseeing risk measurement, models, and reporting for energy trading and procurement.

You will guide a team, develop metrics, and partner with Front Office to ensure risk practices align with procurement plans and policy. The role emphasizes safety, ethics, and regulatory compliance while delivering clear communication to executives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, economics, finance, or a related field.
• 4-5 years progressive risk control, risk analytics and/or credit experience.
• Experience leading teams and managing projects.
• Experience directing meetings and communicating deliverables to senior management.
• Ability to review position reports and apply risk management techniques to manage financial and physical risks.
• Self-starter who identifies and takes action on value-added opportunities.
• Familiarity with dynamic portfolio risk analysis, including scenario testing, earnings at risk and other portfolio risk testing methodologies.
• Strong oral, written and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Report daily risk exposure and market analytics.
• Collaborate with teams responsible for asset acquisitions and risk management.
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of risks captured in positions.
• Develop valuation models for optimization of assets.
• Track energy procurement and hedging activities in line with plans and risk mandates.
• Prepare annual reports on energy portfolio risk and performance for leadership.
• Escalate risk exceptions with remediation plans.
• Provide consultation to Front Office regarding risks in complex and structured agreements.
• Oversee model development related to risk management and marketing of energy contracts.
• Serve as a non-voting member of the Energy Management Committee.
