Job summary

Boater’s World Marine Centers in Lake Placid, Florida is seeking experienced marine technicians/outboard mechanics. 5+ years of hands-on work in diagnosed and repaired marine engines, electrical systems, and rigging is preferred. The role offers nationwide relocation assistance and a signing incentive up to $10,000, with potential earnings of $100K+.

On-site, full-time position. Advancement includes OEM training and certifications across Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Honda.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional marine technician experience preferred for A-Tech and Master-level consideration.
• Strong outboard diagnostic and repair experience.
• Advanced mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability.
• Experience with Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, or other major marine engine manufacturers preferred.
• Ability to independently diagnose and complete repairs.
• Experience with engine rigging, repowers, and accessory installation preferred.
• OEM certifications are strongly preferred but not required for all qualified candidates.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to work full-time on-site in Lake Placid, Florida.
• Willingness to complete required pre-employment screening.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, fuel, cooling, steering, and related marine systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair outboard engines using manufacturer diagnostic equipment and procedures.
• Perform routine maintenance through advanced engine repairs and rebuilds based on experience level.
• Rig new and pre-owned boats for customer delivery.
• Install outboards, electronics, accessories, controls, and other OEM or aftermarket equipment.
• Perform compression tests, diagnostic scans, electrical troubleshooting, and other technical evaluations.
• Conduct safety inspections and identify recommended repairs or maintenance.
• Perform water and lake testing when required to diagnose or verify repairs.
• Accurately document technician findings, repairs performed, parts used, and additional recommendations.
• Maintain high workmanship standards and minimize comebacks by completing repairs correctly the first time.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
