Job summary

Meyer Distributing is seeking a Lead Purchasing Agent to oversee procurement activities for marine-related products and services. The role focuses on building strong supplier relationships, negotiating favorable terms, and ensuring timely delivery to support ongoing production and customer service.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of purchasing experience in marine or related markets, with international exposure preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years’ purchasing experience, marine/industrial markets preferred.
• International experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of marine products, equipment, and suppliers.
• Proven contract negotiation and supplier-relations experience.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
• Proficient in ERP, purchasing software, and MS Office.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the purchasing team to source marine products and services.
• Develop and maintain supplier relationships in the marine industry.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts for best value.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with operations.
• Evaluate suppliers and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operations to identify needs.
• Plan and schedule production based on needs.
• Analyze market trends and product availability.
• Ensure compliance with policies and safety standards.
• Prepare reports on purchasing activities and cost savings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
