Senior Marine Diesel Technician (Maintenance)

The role of Senior Technician involves inspecting, maintaining, and repairing boats of all types. They possess a comprehensive understanding of boat systems and components, utilizing diagnostic equipment to test and repair engines, hulls, propellers, rigging, and navigational equipment. Senior Technicians provide expert technical knowledge and assist in training other team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with the Service Manager to prepare accurate work orders.
  2. Conduct thorough assessments before starting work, including estimating time and sourcing parts.
  3. Demonstrate expert knowledge of marine systems such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and water systems.
  4. Troubleshoot, repair, and install vessel systems, including electrical, electronics, engines, and more.
  5. Assign parts and manage purchases related to vessels.
  6. Maintain excellent time management, customer service, and attention to detail.
  7. Promote a safe working environment and provide timely updates to clients.
  8. Possess own tools and mentor junior technicians.
  9. Be available for overtime as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

Adhere to safety and environmental policies, wear appropriate PPE, and report accidents or spills immediately.

Technical and Physical Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; technical training and certifications preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience preferred; ABYC Master Technician certification is a plus.
  • Experience with gel coat, fiberglass, and multiple engine brands preferred.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, lift 50 pounds, and perform boat handling.
