Job summary

Zoox is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own and advance core geospatial visualization libraries for 2D/3D mapping. You will extend a deck.gl-based library, improve performance on large datasets, and collaborate with Cartography and Simulation teams to deliver scalable features.

Strong hands-on experience with React/TypeScript and WebGL mapping libraries is required, with a focus on correctness, modular design, and mentoring other engineers.

Qualifications

5+ years of professional software engineering experience with React and TypeScript.
Hands-on experience with deck.gl, Mapbox GL, MapLibre, or comparable WebGL mapping libraries.
Strong knowledge of geospatial data concepts and rendering techniques.
Experience designing and maintaining libraries used by multiple teams with emphasis on correctness and testability.

Responsibilities

Own and extend our deck.gl-based map visualization library.
Design and deliver 2D/3D rendering features for geospatial data and road networks.
Partner with Cartography and Simulation teams to translate needs into scalable features.
Improve rendering performance for large map datasets.
Elevate code quality, documentation, and test coverage; mentor engineers on geospatial rendering and React/deck.gl patterns.
