Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering professional to drive the integration of electrical, SDV, and VaaT requirements across vehicle programs at our Warren Tech Center onsite location. The role includes travel up to 50% domestically and internationally to support launches, plant builds, and readiness activities.

The candidate will align engineering, manufacturing, operations, and program teams, assess manufacturing impacts, and develop strategies with Global Manufacturing

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting vehicle programs in Manufacturing Engineering, product engineering, manufacturing integration, or a related automotive function.
  • Working knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and their impact on manufacturing processes and assembly operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate the manufacturing impact of electrical, software, or product changes and translate them into plant-level solutions.
  • Experience supporting vehicle launches, plant builds, production implementation, or manufacturing readiness activities.
  • Ability to drive alignment and execution across engineering, manufacturing, operations, and program teams without direct authority.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Responsibilities

  • Drive integration of electrical, SDV, and Vehicle-as-a-Tester (VaaT) requirements across vehicle programs.
  • Assess manufacturing impacts and develop implementation strategies for assigned plants and programs.
  • Develop plant and program strategies in collaboration with Global Manufacturing Electrical & SDV, Manufacturing Planning, and other Manufacturing Engineering organizations.
  • Represent manufacturing requirements during program planning and escalate risks as appropriate.
  • Support virtual and physical build events by identifying risks, resolving issues, and supporting plant readiness.
  • Align global cross-functional teams on manufacturing requirements, execution strategies, and program objectives.
  • Collaborate with teams across regions and time zones to support vehicle program execution.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on manufacturing readiness, quality, efficiency, and implementation success.

Work Arrangement

This is an onsite role based at the Warren Tech Center. The successful candidate must be available for up to 50% domestic and international travel.

Responsibilities
  • Drive integration of electrical, SDV, and Vehicle-as-a-Tester (VaaT) requirements across vehicle programs.
  • Assess manufacturing impacts and develop implementation strategies for assigned plants and programs.
  • Develop plant and program strategies in collaboration with Global Manufacturing Electrical & SDV, Manufacturing Planning, and other Manufacturing Engineering organizations.

This role is categorized as onsite. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location on a full-time basis. The selected candidate will be required to travel on a regular basis (25-50%) for this role. This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience supporting vehicle programs in Manufacturing Engineering, product engineering, manufacturing integration, or a related automotive function.
  • Working knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and their impact on manufacturing processes and assembly operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate the manufacturing impact of electrical, software, or product changes and translate them into plant-level solutions.
  • Experience supporting vehicle launches, plant builds, production implementation, or manufacturing readiness activities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a vehicle assembly plant environment.
  • Manufacturing Engineering experience supporting body, electrical, general assembly, or launch operations.
  • Experience with SDV, VaaT, vehicle electrical architecture, or software integration.
  • Product launch, project management, or program management experience.
  • Ability to evaluate product designs and influence design decisions to improve manufacturability.
  • Experience supporting multiple manufacturing sites or global vehicle programs.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing planning, tooling systems, and vehicle assembly operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
