Senior Manufacturing Engineer — Robot Production & Scale-Up

Job summary

Genesis in California is building general-purpose robots and seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to take the robot from engineering builds to production. Our CA facility introduces new products, designs the process, trains technicians, and partners with a production floor or external partners to achieve volume.

You will own the production process end-to-end, lead a cross-functional team, manage quality gates, and ensure traceability as we scale.

Qualifications

• Experience designing production processes for electromechanical products.
• Ability to transfer processes to contract manufacturers and enforce standards.
• Strong foundation in lean methods, PFMEA, control plans, and DOE.

Responsibilities

• Design the production process: layout, cycle time, line balancing, fixtures, end-of-line test and calibration, material flow.
• Capacity planning: stations, equipment, people and hours by build phase and scaling ahead of demand.
• Specify, source and commission fixtures, tooling and test equipment with Supply Chain; vendor acceptance on floor.
• Own process documentation under revision control: work instructions with photos/video, PFMEA, control plans, SOPs; align BOMs.
• Run the transfer from engineering builds to production with pilot builds, DFx feedback, and phase-gate readiness reviews, then release to volume.
• Package the process so a partner’s floor can replicate it with identical yields; document stations, fixtures, tests, instructions and training.
• Build and lead the team: manufacturing engineers, test engineers, technicians; manage hiring pace, training and certification, shift structure as volume grows.
• Own the quality gate: first-pass yield, defect capture, root-cause analysis (8D/DOE), feedback to engineering and suppliers; nothing ships without quality sign-off.
• Partner with Supply Chain to ensure clear-to-build and with the partner to run our process to standard.
• Stand up systems as we grow: serial traceability, MES-lite initially, weekly metrics (yield, hours per unit, cost, downtime) reported to leadership.
