Job summary

HuFriedyGroup, a leading dental instrument manufacturer, is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer in Northbrook, IL. The role focuses on line support, continuous improvement, capacity optimization, and new product transfers to enhance manufacturing efficiency, quality, and throughput.

You will partner with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Product Development to identify opportunities, resolve complex issues, and implement sustainable improvements, including CAPA and lean initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related.
• Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in a regulated medical device or highly regulated environment.
• Hands-on experience supporting production operations on the shop floor.
• Strong experience with structured problem solving, root cause analysis, and statistical analysis.
• Lean and Six Sigma training or certification.
• Knowledge of ISO 13485, FDA requirements, Design Controls, CAPA, SCAR, and audit processes.
• Experience with DFM/DFMEA/PFMEA, DOE, process validation, and equipment qualification.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on manufacturing engineering support to operations with focus on line support and continuous improvement.
• Lead CAPA activities and root cause analysis to implement corrective actions.
• Develop technical documentation, test plans, risk assessments, and work instructions.
• Partner with Quality and Operations to ensure processes are compliant and controlled.
• Lead Lean manufacturing initiatives and cost-reduction efforts.
