STS Technical Services is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to support and improve manufacturing operations for UL 891 switchboards and related electrical assemblies in Milwaukee, WI. You will lead initiatives to improve throughput, labor efficiency, and data integrity in Epicor, while developing scalable production systems for engineered-to-order environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering.
  • 5–15 years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Hands-on on the production floor with problem-solving.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and fabrication prints.

Responsibilities

  • Design, specify, procure and implement tooling, fixtures and equipment for UL 891 switchboards and other large electrical assemblies.
  • Develop scalable, repeatable manufacturing solutions.
  • Troubleshoot tooling, equipment and process issues; implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain Epicor ERP data including routings, BOMs, and labor standards.
  • Lead cross-functional improvements across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain and IT.

Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Electrical Equipment)

STS Technical Services is hiring a Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Electrical Equipment in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

This role supports the development and improvement of manufacturing operations for UL 891 switchboards, generator docking stations, camboards and other engineered electrical assemblies.

We’re looking for an experienced manufacturing engineer who can bridge engineering, operations and supply chain execution while improving production processes, strengthening Epicor ERP data and helping build scalable manufacturing systems in a fast-paced engineered-to-order environment.

Position Overview

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will provide hands‑on production support while leading process optimization, routing accuracy, labor efficiency and cross‑functional manufacturing improvements.

This position works across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality and IT to improve manufacturing execution, implement tooling and equipment, support MES integration and develop production systems capable of supporting continued growth.

Responsibilities
  • Design, specify, procure and implement tooling, fixtures and equipment for UL 891 switchboards and other large electrical assemblies
  • Develop manufacturing solutions that support repeatable, scalable and safe production
  • Troubleshoot tooling, equipment and manufacturing process issues
  • Implement corrective actions that minimize downtime and prevent recurring problems
  • Work with Industrial Engineers and production teams to develop flexible manufacturing solutions
  • Support low‑volume, high‑mix engineered‑to‑order production
  • Support lower‑mix configure‑to‑order production
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities
  • Identify and document cost‑saving opportunities
  • Improve safety, quality, delivery and cost through manufacturing improvements
  • Develop and maintain accurate bills of material in Epicor ERP
  • Maintain labor standards and manufacturing routings
  • Develop and maintain work instructions
  • Serve as a manufacturing subject matter expert for Epicor processes and data
  • Work with IT, Production and Quality to implement the Manufacturing Execution System
  • Integrate MES capabilities with shop‑floor processes
  • Support improved production visibility, control and execution
  • Translate customer drawings and specifications into manufacturing plans
  • Translate engineered designs into effective production routings
  • Optimize manufacturing processes to improve throughput
  • Reduce manufacturing waste
  • Improve product quality and on‑time delivery
  • Support new product introductions
  • Support custom orders and engineering changes from release through production
  • Lead capital equipment projects from concept through implementation and stabilization
  • Promote manufacturing best practices across the operation
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Five to 15 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment
  • Hands‑on approach to manufacturing engineering and problem solving
  • Comfortable working directly on the production floor
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced growth environment
  • Strong ability to read technical drawings
  • Ability to interpret fabrication prints and customer specifications
  • Experience creating SOPs and standard work
  • Experience creating scalable manufacturing documentation
  • Ability to work effectively across office and shop‑floor teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands‑on Epicor ERP experience
  • Experience with Epicor routings and bills of material
  • Experience with job methods and costing
  • Experience with production transactions
  • Experience supporting engineering changes or Epicor process optimization
  • Experience with electrical equipment assembly
  • Engineered‑to‑order manufacturing experience
  • Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing
