About Our Client

Our client is an AS9100 certified aerospace manufacturer located near Lombard that supports globally known aerospace brands such as Boeing, Northrup Grumman, Collins Aerospace, and more. They are owned by a larger parent company that oversees an entire aerospace manufacturing portfolio in the U.S with over $1B in annual revenue.

Job Description

Key duties and responsibilities include:

1. Leading productivity improvements, automation implementation, and LEAN initiatives.
2. Driving shop floor CI through lean minded process/flow improvements and cross functional kaizen events.
3. Developing and improving processes in a machine shop and assembly environment.
4. Troubleshooting production issues of mechanical and electrical nature.
5. Being involved in capital expenditure discussions.
6. Developing automation, optimized methods, special tooling & machine/test stand designs for the purpose of cost reduction, quality & process enhancement.
7. Ability to understand electrical schematics and troubleshoot/identify component level issues.
8. Developing requirements for tooling, fixturing, testing and support equipment.
9. Understanding Customer and Engineering (Mechanical and Electrical) requirements and translating them into processes.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will possess the following:

1. 10+ years in manufacturing, with strong experience working on machining & assembly processes.
2. Knowledge of LEAN/Six Sigma methodologies OR demonstrated experience with process improvement initiatives like: 5S, Kaizen Events, Value Stream Mapping, Pareto Charts, and more.
3. Ability to write work instructions, create documentation for troubleshooting equipment/machinery.
4. Experience communicating directly with outside vendors/processors.
5. Background successfully leading capital expenditure projects from start to finish.
