Job summary

National Carwash Solutions in Grimes, IA is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead process improvements across multiple facilities. You will analyze downtime and cycle times, build KPI dashboards (Power BI), and drive cross-functional projects with executive visibility.

Responsibilities include designing and validating processes, fixtures, and tooling; leading VSM events; and coordinating with design, engineering, and operations to meet specs while promoting continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial engineering or industrial technology.
  • Minimum of 5 yearsxperience in manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with scoping, creating ROIs, and on-boarding new capital equipment.
  • Ability to travel regularly, up to 3050% at times depending on the location of projects.
  • Ability to read and understand piece part and welding blue prints as designed by the Engineering Department.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and/or as part as a cross functional team.
  • Strong mathematical abilities.
  • Proficiency in ACAD or Solidworks.
  • Required to be familiar with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with metal fabrication, bending, machining, and/or welding a plus.
  • Experience with both discrete and process-based manufacturing environments a plus.
  • PLC programming and industrial automation experience a plus.
  • Experience with IoT product implementation and or use a plus.
  • Experience with data automation and analytical tools a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze production equipment downtime, cycle time, and process data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and root causes.
  • Design, build, and maintain KPI dashboards and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI) for leadership visibility into throughput, quality, safety, and cost.
  • Lead initiatives with high visibility to executives and sponsors with structured accountability to support teams.
  • Lead or facilitate value stream mapping (VSM) events to identify waste and prioritize improvements.
  • Inspect equipment and processes to ensure designs meet specifications.
  • Contribute to design and execution of processes, fixtures, templates, locators used in manufacturing.
  • Develop and maintain fixtures, templates, locators, and related equipment.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and cost/quality/safety gains.
  • Review manufacturing functions and propose efficiency improvements.
  • Provide programming assistance on various manufacturing machines and train staff as needed.
  • Review cost savings ideas and respond to employee suggestions.
  • Coordinate manufacturing capabilities with engineering specifications and product design requirements.
  • Collaborate with management to train on manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in sourcing projects and reverse-engineering efforts to produce in-house.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, local laws, and safety policies.

As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will...
  • Analyze production equipment downtime, cycle time, and process data across NCS manufacturing facilities toidentifytrends, bottlenecks, and root causes
  • Design, build, and maintain KPI dashboards and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI) that give operations and engineering leadership visibility into throughput, quality, safety, and cost performance
  • Lead criticalcompanyinitiativesthat have highvisibility withtheexecutive team and sponsors.Provide directionand structured accountabilityto resourceteamsassigned to thesemid-to-longprojects.
  • Lead orfacilitatevalue stream mapping (VSM) events toidentifywaste and prioritize improvement opportunities across the value stream
  • Inspect equipment and processes being designed and built utilizing the appropriate tools to ensure items meet Design and Engineering specifications
  • Be involved with the complete design and execution of processes, the fixtures, templates, locators, etc. used in the manufacturing and operations processes
  • Construction and maintenance of fixtures, templates, locators and miscellaneous equipment used in the manufacturing process
  • Play an active role in the culture of continuous improvement
  • Review and analyze manufacturing functions, submitting suggestions to improve efficiency, quality, safety and cost
  • Provide programming assistance on various manufacturing machines and may train employees to perform the same
  • Review cost savings or any type of other suggestion submitted by employees pertaining to the manufacturing process. Participates in investigating and responding to the same
  • Act as a liaison between design, engineering and manufacturing. Coordinating manufacturing abilities with engineering specifications and requests, and product design requirements
  • Work with manufacturing management to provide practical training for the manufacturing process
  • Play an active role on in sourcing projects that may include documenting or reverse engineering items to be made in house
  • Comply with all applicable OSHA, EPA, local regulatory laws, and company safety policies
  • Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of this position at any time
What You Need…

Physical Requirements
  • Must stoop, bend, reach, walk; perform repetitive motions using hands to grasp, push, pull or do fine manipulations
  • Required to stand for prolonged periods
  • Intermittently lift light to medium weight up to 50 lbs.
