Moog Military Aircraft Group

is looking for a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer to support our Manufacturing Engineering Group at our plant in Torrance, CA. Reporting to our Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will have a 9/80 schedule onsite work in Torrance, CA.

Role Overview:

As a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer, you will perform routine manufacturing engineering work requiring the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures. The primary responsibility is developing and maturing manufacturing processes for production hardware.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. New Product Introduction (NPI):
    • Perform drawing reviews to ensure application of DFMA principles.
    • Develop quality-based and cost-effective manufacturing processes.
    • Design tooling for operations requiring fixtures and specialized cutting tools.
    • Analyze and troubleshoot manufacturing processes during prove-out to optimize quality and efficiency.
  2. Legacy Programs and Production Environment:
    • Support continuous improvement activities in the machine shop.
    • Review manufacturing plans on legacy hardware for compatibility and improvements.
    • Implement automation and Industry 4.0 technologies.
    • Research and purchase capital equipment for capacity and technology upgrades.
    • Coordinate with departments to optimize manufacturing facilities and processes.
    • Provide technical support for gear production equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, or 10+ years without a degree.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Expertise in machining processes: turning, milling, grinding.
  • Knowledge of gear machining: shaping, hobbing, broaching, gear grinding.
  • Understanding of aerospace steels and other materials.
  • Familiarity with heat treatment, plating, NDT, and aerospace painting processes.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling, GDT, drawing interpretation, fixture and tool design, and quality analysis tools.
  • Access to export-controlled information.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with NX & Team Center.
  • Experience creating manufacturing processes for aerospace components with gears/splines.
  • Knowledge of inspection methods and CMM (Zeiss).
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing and AS9100 standards.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Salary Range:

$100,000.00-$130,000.00 annually in Torrance, CA.
