Job summary

Better Planet and Warehouse Sales & Services is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Accountant to provide full-time on-site accounting support in Georgia. The role requires hands-on expertise in manufacturing cost accounting, inventory management, and intercompany transactions, with strong knowledge of how costs flow from raw materials to finished goods.

You will work with management, operations, purchasing, and warehouse teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and cost control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of senior-level accounting experience.
• Strong hands-on manufacturing accounting experience.
• Strong hands-on cost accounting experience.
• Understanding of manufacturing cost structures and cost flows.
• Knowledge of inventory accounting, valuation, COGS, WIP, finished goods, and manufacturing variances.
• Experience analyzing direct materials, direct labor, manufacturing overhead, production costs, and cost variances.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online; NetSuite preferred.
• Advanced Excel and MS Office.
• Must reside in Georgia, on-site, full-time; W-2.
• Eligible and willing to work as a W-2 employee.

Responsibilities

• Perform and oversee manufacturing cost accounting activities, including analysis of direct materials, direct labor, overhead, WIP and finished goods.
• Understand and analyze the full manufacturing cost flow from raw materials through production and finished goods.
• Review and analyze production costs to ensure proper capture, classification, allocation, and reporting.
• Perform inventory accounting and valuation, investigate variances, adjustments, discrepancies, and write-offs.
• Analyze material usage, labor costs, overhead, variances, and other cost drivers.
• Reconcile inventory-related accounts to the general ledger and investigate differences.
• Assist management in understanding financial impact of production activity, inventory movements, and purchasing decisions.
• Develop and maintain product costing and pricing information.
