Summary:

The Senior Managing Accident Reconstructionist leads a team of expert staff in reconstructing vehicular accidents and requires extensive experience in forensic engineering and/or accident reconstruction investigations. This role involves traveling to accident sites, assessing conditions, utilizing specialized software for reconstruction, collaborating with forensic animators to develop 3D models, analyzing crash patterns, and providing written conclusions on factors contributing to accidents. The ideal candidate has an established network of clients and experience in building and maintaining client relationships.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Leads a team in conducting accident investigations, including scene documentation, data download, accident analysis using crash simulation software, report writing, and litigation support.
• Manages large, complex projects from initiation to completion.
• Supports business development by maintaining client relationships and generating new work, attending conferences, and promoting the company's expertise.
• Communicates effectively with clients and team members regarding scope, tasks, budgets, and deadlines.
• Ensures workload distribution and mentors team members.
• Provides expert testimony in depositions or trials as an expert witness.
• Performs vehicular investigations using tools like 3D laser scanners, photography, drones, and data downloads.
• Analyzes crash data, vehicle specifications, and research to support reconstructions.
• Processes 3D laser scan data and collaborates with forensic animators for scene and vehicle modeling.
• Uses collision reconstruction software to simulate accidents and calculates impact parameters using engineering principles.
• Prepares detailed reports for clients outlining findings and conclusions.
• Acts as a team lead, reviewing work for accuracy and timeliness.
• Engages with current literature to enhance scientific techniques in accident reconstruction.

Qualifications:

• 10-15 years of forensic accident reconstruction experience; ACTAR certification or a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with equivalent experience.
• Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Valid PE license, ACTAR, or SAE certification required.
• Experience with CAD is preferred.
• At least 8 years of experience in impact speed calculations, collision forces, and trajectories.
• Minimum 7 years of automotive engineering experience, including control systems.
• Experience working with insurance carriers, attorneys, and adjusters.
• At least 5 years of experience performing computer simulations.
• Experience providing depositions and courtroom testimony preferred.
• Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the specified location.
• Passion for teamwork and learning; willing to travel to remote sites as needed.
