  • Conduct safety audits for train service employees and RC operators.
  • Operate territory within the annual transportation budget.
  • Review metrics daily and plan remediation actions.

Description

This job has responsibility to direct all daily operations of assigned territory and employees, regardless of their craft, ensuring both safety and transportation product quality meets or exceeds the standards set by the business objectives and customer expectations. This position does not physically move trains, but coordinates and plans to make efficient movement and maintain fluidity and production standards.

Accountabilities

  • Lead and develop agreement professionals to improve and enhance skills, performance and successful accomplishment of Company business objectives
  • Respond to emergency situations or service interruptions
  • Drive company vehicle and transport crews
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Ensure assigned territory failure prevention activities are implemented to achieve cost of quality business objectives
  • Direct the execution of the transportation plan for assigned territory to ensure all quality service objectives are met or exceeded, coordinating with dispatch, sales and other terminals/yards to meet business objectives
  • Conduct safety audits for train service employees and remote control operators to ensure compliance with all safety rules
  • Operate assigned territory at or below the annual transportation budget
  • Review key & leading measures daily, identify issues that require remediation, develop an action plan, and identify resources

Qualifications – Required

  • A high school diploma or Graduate Equivalency Diploma (GED)
  • Experience of 2-4 years in a management/professional-level position
  • Experience of 2-4 years in transportation field operations
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience reading and understanding instructions (examples may include: operating and safety rules, bulletins, special instructions, and federal regulatory documents)

Qualifications – Preferred

  • A Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience of 1 year or more in railroad operations in a centralized function
  • Experience of 1 year or more in labor relations, demonstrating proficiency managing a large diverse unionized workforce
  • Valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements

  • Able to safely walk and maintain balance on uneven surfaces
  • Able to frequently walk, climb, and maintain balance on ladders or stairs in a safe manner

Work Conditions

  • 21 years of age or older
  • Willingness to work outside regardless of weather conditions
