The Senior Manager is responsible for the management of a portfolio of research, tools, and stakeholder engagement in NEEP’s Technology Market Transformation team. The role offers an exciting opportunity to drive the growth of heat pump solutions in a region with ambition, investment, partners and momentum. The portfolio includes developing strategies, managing stakeholder working groups, scoping and overseeing development of resources, managing budgets, and supervising people. Responsibilities

A Day In The Life Of This Role:

In this role, you will work with a wide array of NEEP stakeholders, including state energy offices, utilities, energy efficiency program administrators, manufacturers, distributors, contractors, consultants, and nonprofit organizations across the region to facilitate technology market transformation for buildings and industry. Priority topics currently include cold-climate heat pumps for space heating and cooling, high-efficiency water heating, advanced windows, building envelope measures, and more. The Senior Manager will convene and coordinate activity across regional stakeholders and experts through working groups and advisory committees, promote NEEP’s popular cold-climate heat pump product list, scope and develop tools and resources, and publish high-quality research on a range of topics including but not limited to energy efficiency, electrification, and grid flexibility in the residential and commercial building and industrial sectors. The Senior Manager will be expected to respect and uphold NEEP’s core values. The Senior Manager reports to the Director, Technology Market Transformation.

Qualifications

What NEEP is looking for in a candidate:

  • 7+ years of progressively senior experience in energy efficiency, project management, and stakeholder engagement and at least one year of manager-level experience.
  • Advanced degree preferred but not required.
  • Subject matter expertise in one or more of these areas: building decarbonization (single family residential, multi-family residential, commercial building sectors), heating and hot water electrification including cold-climate heat pumps, industrial energy efficiency and decarbonization, advanced windows and building envelope technologies, contractor workforce development.
  • Sound knowledge of the historical background of other players and evolution of the industry over time.
  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze, disseminate, and interpret relevant industry data to all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to place NEEP within the industry and apply knowledge to strategic decision-making.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and trends.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate internally and externally.
  • Ability to develop and manage budgets and proposals for complex, multi-year grant proposals.
  • Ability to communicate program area strategy and activities to a variety of audiences, including funders.
  • Demonstrated project management skills; accountability for project deliverables and financial systems.
  • Strategic thinking and planning for program area.
  • Ability to lead the hiring and development of staff; take responsibility for the performance of the team.
  • Ability to support team members in their professional development.

The position is exempt and scheduled 40 hours per week although additional hours including evenings and weekends may be required.
