Job summary

Qualifications

  • Substantial experience building and managing an effective team of software engineers and technical leads.

  • Strong project management and technical leadership skills.
  • Self‑motivated, able to work independently, comfortable with ambiguity and calculated risk‑taking.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and test scalable, extensible, and maintainable supply chain system capabilities.
  • Review and provide feedback on planned architecture and design for the OMS and Supply Chain domains and related systems.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and business partners to drive results.
  • Work with Production Support to evaluate system health and lead triage for production issues.
  • Attract, select and retain critical talent; coach team members in coding and development skills.
  • Facilitate Communities‑of‑Practice around critical technologies.
  • Estimate development effort, allocate resources, and plan implementations and system rollouts.
  • Assist in continually improving the Engineering organization.
  • Develop a solid understanding of critical systems and processes.
  • Perform other duties as required.

About the Role

The Williams‑Sonoma, Inc. Supply Chain Engineering organization is seeking an energetic and talented Senior Manager to lead the Order Management and Supply Chain systems domain delivery teams. The role focuses on driving high-value, high-quality features across all brand websites, with a strong emphasis on technical design, architecture, road‑mapping, and strategic planning to deliver scalable, data‑driven solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build and test scalable, extensible, and maintainable supply chain system capabilities.
  • Review and provide feedback on planned architecture and design for the OMS and Supply Chain domains and related systems.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and business partners to drive results.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
Technical Competencies Required
  • 10+ years of hands‑on experience building and owning Order Management Systems, preferably IBM Sterling Order Management System.
  • Java 17+ with functional programming in Java, Spring Boot, REST API development, Kafka, ELK/Kibana, JUnit, Mockito, Oracle, NoSQL, Cassandra, etc.
  • Agile delivery practices at scale.
  • Microservices architecture and governance.
  • Front‑end knowledge of Micro Front Ends, JavaScript frameworks such as React.
  • Experience building highly scalable, transactional customer‑facing applications.
  • Understanding of infrastructure, networking, and security lifecycle management.
  • Experience creating CI/CD and DevOps pipelines.
Additional Engineering Skillset
  • Implement, test, and operate advanced software security techniques in compliance with company standards.
  • Develop non‑functional requirements for new and existing capabilities.
  • Performance testing of UI, microservices, and order‑management capabilities.
  • Collaborate with DBA to design relational and non‑relational databases.
  • Ownership and technical leadership of platform infrastructure technologies such as Kubernetes and Kafka.

Compensation

The expected starting pay range for this position is $165,000 - $195,000 annually. Pay may vary by market and will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
