Job summary

Avidity Biosciences, a leader in RNA therapeutics, seeks a Senior Manager, Technical Product Management in San Diego. Hybrid/remote work options and full-time employment are available as you drive TD&O deliverables with TPMs, SMEs and leaders across manufacturing, regulatory and quality.

You will monitor schedules, manage budgets, mitigate risks, and push process improvements while collaborating with cross-functional teams to advance programs in rare diseases and oligonucleotide therapeutics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years of cGMP manufacturing product/project management experience in pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical industry; additional CMC experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of drug development and CMC regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, budgets, and timelines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and facilitation of dynamic cross-functional OneCMC Teams; schedule meetings and write summaries.
  • Monitor integrated project schedules covering manufacturing activities and resources.
  • Establish partnerships to enhance high-performing teams and achieve goals.
  • Assist TPMs in risk management of product manufacturing and issue resolution.
  • Support decision-making and risk/opportunity scenario planning.
  • Collaborate to develop and manage TD&O product team budgets.
  • Coordinate TD&O document reviews for development, manufacturing, regulatory and quality activities.
  • Implement new processes and process improvements for TD&O management.

The Opportunity

The Senior Manager will be part of the Technical Product Management team in Technical Development & Operations (TD&O) and work closely with the Technical Product Managers (TPMs), Technical Product Leaders (TPLs) and subject matter experts (SMEs) to drive effective execution of TD&O deliverables through program and project management support. The ideal candidate is highly organized and passionate about contributing to a strong team in a patient-centric environment.

What You Will Contribute
  • Provide support and facilitation of dynamic, cross-functional OneCMC Teams, including meeting scheduling, developing agendas, writing and distributing meeting summaries, and tracking goals and action items to completion
  • Monitor fully integrated project schedules capturing all manufacturing activities and resources needed in accordance with corporate goals, scope, budget, and risks
  • Establish strong partnerships with internal and external team members to enhance high-performing teams that will achieve ambitious goals
  • Assist TPMs in risk management of product manufacturing, proactively identifying risks, developing strategies to address them appropriately, and driving the teams to overcome issues and challenges
  • Support teams in effective decision-making and risk/opportunity scenario planning
  • Collaborate with SMEs and TPMs to develop and manage TD&O product team budgets in
  • Coordinate timely TD&O document review/approval to support development, manufacturing, Regulatory and Quality activities
  • Implement new processes and process improvement initiatives designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Technical Product Management function
What We Seek
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in Life Sciences, Chemistry, or related field required; advanced degree preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of cGMP manufacturing product/project management experience in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry; additional CMC technical experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of drug development, including in-depth knowledge of CMC functions
  • Highly skilled at working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and contractors to drive results and meet company objectives, including ability to influence in a matrix organization
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, budgets, and timelines in a fast-paced, rapid-growth environment
  • Knowledgeable in cGMP manufacturing and CMC regulatory requirements for pharmaceuticals
  • Self-directed and proactive with ability to function independently, exercise good judgment and respond quickly and effectively to changing environments
  • Technical proficiency with project management tools; strong computer skills and experience with software such as Smartsheet, Excel and SharePoint
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill and effectively communicate key messages from complex discussions
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • A background in rare diseases, oligonucleotide or biologics therapeutics
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification
  • Project management skills, along with problem solving, negotiation skills, conflict resolution, influencing skills, and team building skills
  • Ability to travel to Avidity’s San Diego headquarters approximately twice per year for company development weeks and occasional in-person collaboration.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and openness to integrating AI-powered tools to enhance functional processes, support data-informed decisions, and drive innovative outcomes across teams.
What We Will Provide To You
  • The base salary range for this role is $155k - $190k. The final compensation will be commensurate with such factors as relevant experience, skillset, internal equity and market factors.
  • Avidity offers competitive compensation and benefits, which includes the opportunity for annual bonus as well as a 401(k) with an employer match. In addition, the comprehensive wellness program includes coverage for medical, dental, vision, and LTD, and four weeks of time off.
